Revised Application

Post by Lexx Yovel » Wed Sep 10, 2008 7:43 am

Hi all,

Last evening the school's internet connection was terrible, so I couldn't log on. I apologize for not dealing with the new recruit, the base bust, and other issues.

In any case, the internet is working fine now, and I have a revised application (which by the way can be sent to the potential recruit). I'll paste it below, but also feel free to make any suggestions to add/remove/change the revised application.

-----------------------------------------------------

Greetings,

This mail is usually only sent to those wishing to join RID, but may be sent to current members in order to gain total information awareness. Please answer each question below accurately. Not doing so may result in your inability to join RID, or a prolonged wait before an interview can be arranged. Please send this application to myself (Lexx Yovel) once completed. If this application was sent to you by anyone else besides myself (Lexx Yovel), send it both to Lexx AND whoever sent it to you. If you run out of room when answering the questions, delete the excess text to make space for further typing. This application is going to be reviewed by myself and other officials. AFTER FILLING OUT THIS APPLICATION, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER A USERNAME ON OUR FORUMS AT WWW.ABSTRACTION.COM/RIDBOARD. NAME THE USERNAME AFTER YOUR IN-GAME NAME AND MAKE AN INTRODUCTORY POST WHEN IT'S ACTIVATED. Upon doing so, you will be contacted as soon as possible to meet up for an interview. Answer everything legibly, and do not intentionally leave out information. ALL information is to be in-game info, unless mentioned otherwise:

*IMPORTANT*: Unless said otherwise, members BELOW Combat Level 50 WILL NOT be permitted to join the Regal Imperial Defenders UNLESS you are an ACE PILOT. If your are BELOW CL 50 and NOT an ACE PILOT, do not bother filling out this application, and contact us again when you reach CL 50, or Ace Pilot. Exempt from this are alternate characters and relatives. So if you have a character at or above CL 50, and a character below CL 50 (who isn't an Ace) wishing to join RID, both may join. If you have any questions, please respond. Thank you.

Couple things, first, you listed 4 planets and asked which of the 3 do you like hehe. Second, a possible question "Are you Weifert?" lol. Ok, that doesn't HAVE to be asked I guess.

Also, can you send this to us ingame (if you already haven't...I've been macroing Joniele all night so haven't been in game really. She just hit 90 so I'll be back on Mikal today again.)

Lol good point.

I added a fourth planet but forgot to change the "three."

Also, yes I can send this in-game today.

Can we just get rid in-game applications entirely? It seems rather redundant now that we are officially making them make an introductory post on the forums. I propose that we simply scratch the in-game application, slap onto a stick in the RID Discussion Forum, and mandate an in-game interview. Then, Lexx will either approve/deny in the same thread in which the applicant made his first post.

Can you clarify that? Do you mean have the application stickied on our forums so that they can fill it out HERE as their introductory post? If so, I like that idea.

I think that they should fill out their applications on our forums, so that we can constantly have it here for review.

Once they make their introductory application post we can get right to the interview.

Yes, that's what I meant. I was typing that in a hurry as a friend was waiting on me.

The application is posted in a sticky. New recruits copy and paste it in a new thread in the RID Discussion Forum (or a new forum, simply called RID Applications). Lexx, then you would acknowledge that you received the application and would like to schedule an interview. (Of course, this part can be delegated to someone.) If the interview and application is successful, then you'd edit the thread title to read "Accepted: <Name>".

EDIT: Typos

I vote yes. I have always liked forum based applications. They are always on file (unless they are purged or something). They also allow other members to possibly chime in on what their experiances with the potential recruit are. And finally it gives everyone a bit of a clue of who just joined, because they have already introduced themselves to the guild. No more of this "welcome so and so, CL 90 n00bcake" stuff in guildchat. People should already know who so and so is, and that they are a CL 90 n00bcake because they read the persons post in the forums. Now just to get people to read the posts in the forums hehe.

I agree with Mikal's comments. I receive all these Comm Messages about persons X, Y, and Z joining, yet I have no clue who they are, and I couldn't tell you anything about them. As I know I've told this story dozens of times already, but when I went to a recent Space PvP event, I had a crew of RIDs, I didn't know a one of them (except Flash) - they all just happened to show up and wanted to serve on a POB.
