Mass Effect

This game is beautiful, thanks zoids for pointing it out. The entire trailer you can find on their site is done in the engine, and 99% is gameplay. This is the game that is making me buy a 360.

Depending on the story I think this is right up there with the best of the final fantasies. I love the concept, I love the battle system, I love the graphics, I'm going to love this game.

First, it look slike a good game. I definitely might have to add it to my "to play" list.

Second, Mass Effect and Halo are two different types of genres.

Third, you really have it out for Halo, but have you ever played it? And I'm not talking some multiplayer match where everyone cheats. I'm talking single player campaign or a multiplayer game where everyone plays straight up.

I play with my friends every friday in a lan party and I've beaten the single player campaign on the computer. I know they are different genres, its just going to be between this game and halo 3 for game of the year in 2007. And halo 3 is going to win. There just aren't enough rpg fans, especially on the 360. The 360 has had its rpgs and they have all come from bioware, so the 360 players or the playstation players for that matter don't have a diversity in rpgs on the consoles.

I wouldn't give up hope for a RPG taking game of the year. Look at KOTOR. Admittedly, it didn't have to go up against Halo, but I bet it could. And who made KOTOR? Bioware. And believe it or not, I actually enjoyed KOTOR, maybe even more than I do the campaigns from Halo. What makes Halo great has always been its multiplayer (well, for Halo 2 at least).

I think Mass Effect could come out on top. Mass Effect doesn't have the hype that Halo 3 does, so it stands to impress. Halo 3 has as much hype as a Star Wars movie, so it can only stand to disappoint. Mass Effect could easily be a dark horse favorite for game of the year. Luckily, most reviewers don't fall into the fanboy hype that gamers do. Still, if Halo 3 doesn't take game of the year, I wouldn't be surprised if some death threats were made...

good point. Game reviewers have the luxury of access to any console/ game they want so they can afford to not be a fanboy. Lets face it, who wouldn't say no to a free console? This game has my vote, if I have a vote. At least bioware has a background, that will help.

btw this game won rpg of show at E3 2006.

I'd definitely consider purchasing Mass Effect, regardless of a Game of the Year award. Considering Bioware's successful history and the KOTOR feeling I get while watching the Mass Effect trailer, it really appeals to me.

KOTOR is one of the best games i have ever played, it pretty much got me to play SWG. haha. I needed more Star Wars. Mass Effect is to be something like KOTOR but at a much grander scale. I bet if they slaped on Star Wars on it and placed it online it would be the SWG of our dreams. (holds for bitch slap) Not the shooter part, but the countless worlds and speices you encounter, and what seems to be a free flowing game.

it wasn't that waucod, it was a comment that did not contribute at all to the conversation. If you'd like to elaborate as to why you dislike bioware, who has released nothing but three very high quality rpgs, then ill consider not deleting your posts.
