Cairne is quitting SWG

Post by Lexx Yovel » Sat Apr 23, 2005 10:52 am

Cairne, the main figure head of the Imperial inter-guild Network has quit SWG. There is not telling if he will ever return. Cairne sent all the Network leaders a mail, stating this. It turned out he got upset about how the CU on Test Center was, and quit... It took all of us by surprise, and made me pretty upset, especially since all the excellent plans we had put together.

However, the Network is still here, and we still intend to kill the terrorists. I will do my best to make an effort to help lead this Network. The Network is interested in gaining back Naboo and Tatooine first. TIO still has the strength to take back Naboo, yet all the combined Imperial guilds need to assist.

What Cairne did was blunt, he should have waited 'till the thing came live, but that is his decision. In the meantime I will consult other Imperial Network members on what to do next.

This was Cairne's e-mail:

This is going to be very abrupt, but I just want to get this over with.

I tried the CU tonight. I had heard a lot of bad things about it, and had to find out for myself. I had previously said I was just going to ignore it and deal when it went live, but I was getting worried about the word of mouth and had to test it.

I hate it. I mean I really detest it. I'm not going to go into specifics, but I am not playing with it.

Look - you all can organize the Empire without me. You just need to step up, ALL of you, and make it happen. Just running an Imperial guild does not make you an Imperial leader, in my book. It is your ability to work with other guilds which marks you as a true Imperial leader, again IMHO. It is only as a faction that you have a chance in hell of winning the GCW - and it is only going to get harder to win with the upcoming changes regarding base placement and how increasingly difficult it is going to be to take down bases.

You need to learn to do this without me, and RIGHT NOW.

My account runs out May 15th. I am not sure how much I will be on, if at all. I am really, really dissapointed with the CU -hell, I am outright angry about it. I have loved this game for so long, put up with so much bullshit and bad choices by SOE, but this just takes the cake.

I have already left you with the plan you can follow to victory. Build the Legions. Organize yourselves by GCW world. And just talk with each other! I hear more good ideas coming out of people that don't get shared among wider audiences. Expand the Network. Stay active on it. Become the Empire in actuality as well as name and you will succeed.

While I hate his decision of leaving, he is giving us one option, work without him. I plan to do that as a Network. Hopefully now I can help give more leadership roles to this Network and spread my ideas. Right now, people are beginning to notice RID more, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. It's just that this shocked all the Imperial leaders, especially since so many plans were starting to begin.

ISF and XIII have the closest links with me and Bizob. I spoke with Octaviar of ISF, and he said while he was shocked about Cairne's decision, that this wasn't the first time he's done somthing like this. However, Cairne supposedly deleted all his stuff, and I doubt he'll return.

This is definately a disappointment, but it is not the end of the world. I'll miss cairne as much as anyone. he helped me alot in so many ways. he shared his knowledge of the game, how to organize events, battle strategies, networking with other guilds and so much more. who could possibly forget the famous FireBase days!
while this is definately a blow to the empire, we will continue to fight the good fight. Cairne had been out of the game for awhile and we continued to work closely with our allies and even make new ones. there seem to be plenty of people dedicated to victory in the GCW who are willing to work together. the network will not be the same without cairne but it will survive and grow.
i have to agree with Lexx, RID is getting noticed across the galaxy by both rebel and imperial guilds. we even have a few members who left thier former guild (for various reasons) and joined RID because they heard we were a great organization. we have built a guild from nothing and a metropolis from a sand pit, we can build this network.

Those are very true words Bizob. The Network is also showing much apprication towards you. We'll live without Cairne, its a loss, but not a major one.

what is this idea of his about legions and ect? I would like to know his idea about "victory".

i know this doesn't have much relevance but was Cairne ever in a military role during his life so far?

I dont know his RL background, but I can cover the question about legions. Basically Legion Commanders are appointed for the three main worlds, Naboo, Tatooine, Correllia. The others minor worlds, Talus, Lok, Dantooine, and Rori also play a role, but specific Legion Commanders are not appointed specifically to these.

Tatooine -> Lok

Naboo -> Rori

Correllia -> Talus & Dantooine

As Legion Commander of Tatooine, I both cover responsibilities on Tatooine AND Lok. The minor worlds are linked to the three main ones. Naturally planets like Dathomir, Yavin, and Endor dont play in a role in this system, as they dont have a GCW role.

Basically Legion Commanders help command guilds on the planets they are responsible for. Right now XIII and BSA are apart of the Tatooine Legion (BSA is on Lok, and XIII is on Tatooine). This means I help "lead" them so to speak. Cairne claims we all have equal authority, but I believe he is saying that to prevent controversy. For example, people often questioned Cairne's authority on the Network boards. They claimed he was stepping over his boundaries, and was acting as an actual leader of the Network.

Anyways, Network Capitols also play a role in this system. Three Capitols are appointed for the three main worlds: Fort Oasis for Tatooine, Thalnax for Naboo, and Tenebrae for Correllia. There are no Capitols for the 4 other habitable worlds.

The three Capitols act as the main base of operations for placing bases. Bases ring the cities of Fort Oasis, Tenebrae, and Thalnax.

The system works okay, but I think there should be appointed people below the Legion Commanders to take care of different segments of planets.
