Kurke! Question

When you downloaded SWG, was it a small download and then you downloaded the rest via the launchpad or was it the entire game?

The reason I am asking is because I want to resubscribe this week but I don't want to waste a week of subscription time trying to get it downloaded via the launchpad. (my comp freezes for some reason when the launchpad is up so the download literally takes weeks.) I was hoping I could start downloading the entire game now and just resubscribe once the game is ready to go.

If you download and install from the trial version, it will take awhile but patch time when you run the launchpad will be greatly reduced the first time.

I couldn't get the trial version to actually install. It kept failing on one of the patches, so I went and downloaded the Launchpad and waiting the three hours or so for everything to download.

I tried the beta Launchpad (or whatever it is) and it didn't work for me... However, I hear they got some of the bugs worked out so you might try that to see if it freezes or not.

Those will work, but the patches will still be a nightmare to download.

alright so I downloaded the trial...kind of. The two downloads stopped at 45% and 88% and then copied the file to the destination folder (like the download had actually been completed). So that didn't work.

So where can I download a launchpad?

EDIT:I'm missing data2.cab

Scroll down to the SWG section and follow directions.

You should be able to yank the data2.cab off of the CDs (I would think). The cab files are just compressed folders like zip files. Those are still the same for the game. It's all the patches that have altered the game since you probably purchased it.

thanks Kurke. I downloaded the launchpad and then made a trial account so I can download the game without wasting time on my main account. Less than two hours of downloading, last time it was like 8 hours. Probably because I installed from CDs.

With any luck I will be in game today.

I finished the downloads with the trial account, but I think I still have to download the expansions. So maybe I will be on tonight, if not I will certainly be on tomorrow evening.

..I've got about 25 min to go and i will prob just do a trial account unless my bro or sis will let me use their credit card.

I probably got off easy. All I had to download was stuff for JTL since that was the last time I played... lol
