Location along Lake Erie and wind direction. Always seems like the most snow along the lake occurs between downtown Cleveland and Buffalo... So, if you live in Erie, PA then a foot of snow in an hour is considered a dusting...

Yay, I get to fly to New Jersey tomorrow. Get to fly back Tuesday... Bahh... Just not fond of big airports or dealing with people... My flight doesn't even leave out of Pittsburgh until almost 5:30PM... Yeah, I'm just bitching...

It's called the "Lake Effect".

The cooler air over Lake Erie Causes clouds that normally would just pass over to form snow. As you get further from the shores of Lake Erie the effect goes away. The East side is the Lake side, the clouds pass over the West side before the effect really happens.

Well, I got an early flight (and by early I mean Monday at 8:30PM) our of New Jersey. So, I got to miss the snowstorm and enjoy a day of "working at home." I miss sleeping in until 10AM...
