It is used to determine how well all the say grade 3 students in Ontario are doing and to adjust the curriculum. The only standardized test that matters is our grade 10 literacy test, which has become ridiculous because the spend months preparing the students for it, to the point where they let them practice with previous-years' tests. So it really doesn't evaluate if a kid is literate, just that they went to all the prep classes,
so true mate. We are encouraged to study for the SAT, but if you are studying months in advance does that show your intelligence or your ability to remember question types? It is the same for every standardized test here. The lower grades spend more time preparing for their end of year tests than actually learning the material. They take the test in early May and then do nothing until they get out in June.

lol yeah..at least for 1-7? grade..my school is a bit worse. we have project after project and never really have a REAL class were we do something important..only class I've learned anything has been in global class since we have a very good teacher..other classes i space out and never learn anything since the teacher is a completely retarded and keeps going over the same shit and correcting herself since she always messes up. I mean when it gets to the point where showing your class a clip of when the witch dies in the Wizard of Oz in order to teach her students about evaporation/melting and solutes/solutions it's just stupid...I'm in one of the "best"/richest school's in NYC but the teachers in it are morons
test are worthless and should have never been made!

these days u can spill paint on paper and make some random sht and call it art. i dont get it anymore. people making millions of some splatered sht painting and paintings with colored boxes, tisted metal making no clear shape...i am more to realistic painting and drawing although i doodle random crap on my papers but you dont see me making millions

Rofl, I went through MoMA a month or two ago....I swear to god the only worthwhile thing in there is the Van Goh collection, especially Starry Night. Thats all. Nothing else.
