Well, unless Richard Branson hasa change i taste and decides to build a rail system over a few space ships...

I think such a system could easly compete with the air lines. For what airlines charge you to travel and the hassle you have to go through at an airport, a rail system could easily compete. Remember, a train can carry more passengers than any airplane. So assuming you can fill a train and charge prices copetitive with that of airlines, a rail system could be profitable I believe.

If done in a similar manner as the Europeans, an American rail system could work well. The hardest part will be converting the thoughts that the air is better.

I tell ya, it doesn't work, we have a trans-canada railway here, rarely used.

God you are so right on that. Don't get me started with what I think of the Imperial system, use metric, use SI, i don't care, not a backward system based on the size of a mans foot, his arm width, and the lowest temperature some dude could obtain from mixing salt and ice

I would love to switch to metric and for my own benefit, I am slowly starting to think in imperial and metric (it takes some getting used to...). Still, the main problem with converting over to the metric system is cost. Seriously, stop and think about how much it would cost to change every road sign in the country? The federal government takes enough of my money. Then again, most of that goes into Social Security and I've already come to the reailization that I will never get SS money when I get old because it will be gone long before then...

Well Canadians were even less money efficient when we made the switch. We had signs in imperial AND metric, then we decides to get rid of the imperial. But I am glad we made the switch, metric is just so much better, especially in school.

I cut my hair, I went from a long soccer/skater cut to a buzz cut. The older people like it, now I just have to see if I can still steal lady hearts.

Sorry to double post but Kurke after saturday night who do you think is in the chase? don't forget Kahne is only 489 out of the lead if Kenseth and Johnson have bad nights then he could get inside the 400 point barrier. Anyways this is what I have

1. Kenseth
2. Johnson
3. Harvick
4. Busch
5. Hamlin
6. Martin
7. Stewart
8. Earnardt Jr.
9. Burton
10. Gordon

Kenseth wins the race with Kahne in 3rd.

Asking for both Kenseth and Johnson to have bad nights is like asking the planets to align with the snap of a finger. It just ain't going to happen. In my opinion, the two drivers who won't make the chase are either Mark Martin or Jeff Burton. Martin's consistency just isn't there to make a run at the championship and Burton is cracking under the pressure. Now, don't get me wrong, Burton can drive the car and has had a stellar year. He is on the verge of winning. But under the pressure of the chase, I just don't think he has what it takes right now. Kahne might not make the chase, but he's riding some momentum right now.

My dark horse chase pick right now is Kevin Harvick. You can love him or hate him, but you have to admit that he is a hell of a good driver. Still, Richmond can sometimes be a track that takes its toll on equipment. And when it comes to stuff like that, some things are just out of a driver's control.
