Operation Sandstorm

Greetings RID,

This is something I've been baking in my mind for some time, and I just wanted to hear everyones opinion.

I'm considering organizing a set slice team and attack team to destroy every single Rebel base on Tatooine. The reason for this is almost purely sentimental, as I would think it would be cool to have an entire planet with nothing but Imperial bases. However, it could spark Rebel PvP attacks against specific Tatooinian cities.

To do this, we would need people in our guild to contact Rebels willing enough to feed us vulnerability times for SF bases, AND/OR, Imperials willing to inform us when a Rebel base goes vulnerable via the war terminal.

Once all Rebel bases are destroyed, I plan to have 1 Imperial base in each of the 20 tatooine cities (ideally). The extra 5 base slots can be reserved for special locations, or base busts.

I am probably only going to have this plan get underway when we get everyone into respective divisions. In the end, I think it could spark some interest in PvP if Rebels attack specific cities across Tatooine. Whenever they attack, we can defend the base in their respective city. Just brainstorming, but wanted to hear everyones opinion.

But Lexx, where are you going to find a rebel willing to do that?

Wait, aren't SF bases always vulnerable? I thought it was just the PvE bases that had timers? or no?

no it's the other way around. pve bases are always vulnerable, sf bases are not. it's a shame can't put turrets and mines on pvp bases like you can the pve ones...or can you?

anyways it sounds like a good idea, throw some storyteller events in as well leading up to a raid on a base and it would be pretty cool. you could even do the same with s.f. bases that we defend.

It would be sweet if we could destroy all 19 (or however many rebel bases there are at the time in 3 hours, this would take some serious teamwork and probably at least two slicer teams. And someone is bound to notice on the war terminal if there are 5 or 6 bases with alarms going off, so maybe we will get some pvp action. I wonder if we could place pvp bases and then rally the imperials on the server to defend them. It would be nice to have some old school GCW base pvp again.

Would be nice, but probably not doable. Like Kioet' said, it's SF bases that have vuln times. PvE bases are always vulnerable. Probably not possible to destroy all SF bases at once, because one base could be vulnerable monday night and another one could be thursday morning.

Doable, but may require having the right people at the right time, patient enough to go through with this.

can we do it without the Rebels using just war terminals? I have an idea, I could take a small tat house with me everywhere with a war terminal in it, and we can plunk it down wherever we are to keep checking it?

war terminals only give the number of bases and the bases that are under attack, it wouldn't really help much. We would just find waypoints to the base we were attacking.

It's possible it may tell us if bases are vulnerable (not certain). Even then, it would involve getting a slice team quickly on-call, and determining the location of the base. Getting the location isn't much an issue though.

war terminal doesn't say which bases are vulnerable. we need to get set locations of known bases and do 'sweeps' to determine what time they'll be vulnerable.

well our raiding operation on talus was successful last night. alts helped.

I was in Restuss most of this morning fighting Rebels by myself at first (using guerrilla tactics), invited Imperial soldiers to group and we destroyed the rebel insurgents.

Can't wait to get a Precision suit made...not sure what other mods i should go with.

I noticed that last night in guild chat that Kiost was able to determine when a base was going to be vulnerable next. How did he do that, and what rank is required to do so?

If it was an imperial base, he looked on the map. Vulnerable imperial bases have a sun next to them instead of a crescent moon. A faction can only see the vulnerable times of its own bases.
