The RID Navy's future

I have put a lot of thought into this subject recently. I'm going to post my thoughts/opinions here and hope to get some insight from other RID. Please spare me any condescension, ass-kissery, or general off-topic comments.

Anyone who has been in RID for a couple of years knows that I am very active in the Winter months and very inactive in the Summer. I try to keep up during the concert season, but to be honest I'm either too tired, too drunk, or too imprisoned to be much help from May to September. Yeah, I have the uber laptop, but the aforementioned reasons keep me from giving my all to the Navy.

In the three years that I've been in command, I have always had problems keeping a qualified XO on board. I am a great judge of character, but apparently a piss-poor judge of dedication. Fyonna/Aerick has proven to be hands-down the most dedicated and competent person to fill that post yet. He is genuinely dedicated to the Guild, and excels at the space part of the game. He is a true pilot, and has proven in many ways that RID comes first.

With all this in mind, I would like to transfer Command to Fyonna in my absence. I have no intention of giving up my Command of the Navy permenantly, I just want to make sure it thrives while I'm gone. The space game has suffered in the past during my absence due to a lack of focus. We have come a long way, and I don't want to lose momentum.

Please post your opinions here. It doesn't matter how long you've been RID, all opinions count. If you don't feel comfortable posting your opinion here, send me a PM.

Sincerely,

Erougn Eomeir
RID for life

I am in full agreement here, during my relatively short time back in the game, Fyonna has been a great help in boosting me up to speed on the space-game.

It seems daily that the Navy grows in size and skill, and it doesn't seem to be too far-fetched to see us field a full squadron for the saturday events out in Deep Space, complete with gunships and escorts.

While I have been a very small part of our Navy, I've enjoyed what you do for RID, especially with Fyonna/Aerick's assistance. Even though I've only been back in the game for a month or so, I've never seen such active fun amongst a guild and I'm glad that it's RID who is rockin' it out! I also understand how RL can step in. If it wasn't for college and a few other things, I probably would have come back to SWG a long time ago.

So, as for handing things over to our excellent XO for the time being, if it's alright with you and it's alright with Lexx, I say RID's Navy will be just as great in September as it is now.

Thanks for the replies, keep 'em coming.

This whole idea is dependant on Fyonna even being interested in this huge responsibility. Of course, I posted it here before I even asked him lol

Well, I definitely couldn't think of anyone better suited to take temporary control while you are on a SWG vacation. I've seen more guild involvement in the pasts month than I did in two years of playing back in the day.

Having served as the XO in the past (twice lol) I understand the pressure the Naval command goes through. I will tell everyone it is more than every other RID command position combined; well, maybe not Lexx. It is a good idea to delegate some of the responsiblity during those months when you are on the road. I would not support you stepping down permanantly, but I could not think of a better temporary commander than Fyonna. Both you and her have my full support in this decision.

Also, this is not an immediate thing. It will be almost a month before things get busy, but I figured why wait until the last minute to discuss this.

I'll only accept (on a temporary basis) if Lexx changes my title to HMFIC. Wow, what an honor to be considered at all. If anybody objects, I'll decline without question, and we can as a whole decide on a better candidate. I am serious about the whole HMFIC thing though...

Head mother F***** in Charge. When I was a Specialist in the army, and put in charge I would refer to myself as this. Based off of NCOIC (NCO In Charge).

I have to agree with you Erougn... with all due repsect to our former Captains, Fyonna has done probably the best job as a Captain of the Navy, dedicating himself fully to the guild, organizing those weekly training sessions, helping other pilots and the like.

As soon as I log in, I will boost Fyonna up to Naval Commander... and lol, I'm not too sure about your title Fyonna, but I may consider it :P

Erougn can be put to the Captain role in the meantime. Thanks for announcing that you'll may be MIA for a bit Erougn, makes things easier.

I think the Navy is coming off greatly. We are in no doubt the best shap Navy-wise since the birth of RID. So lets keep it up, and show our strength at tonights space event. :D

Lexx there's no need to change titles, as it's only temporary.
