There were about 4 RID's. Other guilds such as IMPHL, WAKE, etc came, but the Imperial turnout in total was low for an event of that scale. The Rebels had an army of like a 100 people, we had 30 at most... so it was
We lost in Revenance in under 10 minutes, but retreated to Nyms or Eisley where we managed to kill some Rebels.
The event was a loss on our part though.

you make it sound not so bad. It was a complete raping. We had no chance, the damn rebels nearly crashed the server. I'm surprised starsider is even up today. Something has to be done, we can't have another event like this. A lot of planning went into it, to have turned out like this.
If you ask me, yea no one did but im going to tell you anyways. Only select rebel guilds should be invited and they need to turn in rosters ahead of time. It should be maybe 30v30 or 50v50 at the most, not 100v30. The lag made it impossible to do anything. The rebel army was able to sneak up on us at nyms b/c it took us 5min to load them. All of a sudden 100 rebs are standing next to us.
EDIT: Sorry if it sounded like I complained about losing. I don't mind losing a good fight but this wasn't even close. It just wasn't fun. We did win eisley though, but we do that everyday.

I was surprised at the low Imperial turnout, that was a first. Normally it is the other way around. I am not sure yet why that was. I am wondering with it being the first week of schools being out in general is why not many were not online. The event was like over in 30 min. Games have high and low playing times during the year. Today here in Tenn it is awesome outside, its in the low 80s with a nice breeze. Lots of folks are outside...
I use to limit each side to 30 each. That 30 grew to allow 50... to server wide and I think mainly it was to not leave anyone out who wanted to be a part of the fun. Being slaughtered in 5 secs is not fun and I do not think you are complianing at all. You have a very valid point. We need to find out why there was a low turn out and try to fix it.
This Epic began back in Feb that concluded last night. It was to be a set of 4 events for RID and TRGA. The first 3 parts were a huge success. I just wish last nights turn out was better. After the NGE Imperials were low in numbers. Then we built up for awhile and we were the larger faction, now it seems the rebels are high in numbers.

I don't mind being outnumbered, the lag was just killer. Most people were unable to fight. There was nothing you could have done, you kept the decor down to a minimum and there were not npc spawns. Maybe there would be less lag at one of the POIs on one of the adventure worlds?

We tried events at Imperial Oasis, Firepoint Corellia... Dantooine... Lok.. Naboo...in towns, out of towns, having spawn, no spawn, pvp events, Imperial Summits, Balls... in all these events the top issue and 1st complaint is always lag. SWG is a intense rich grapic game. Sometimes even Pex lags out.
I remember when the local pc company came out to my house when I was having a issue with my computer and SWG, Mike asked me to log into the game. His first word was when he saw how graphic rich the game was "Holy shit! Look at that eye candy!" Then he ordered me a new grahics card.
SOE says they are doing work on the servers to handle the Rori content, from what I have read on the SWG boards. I hope they really are and this might solve our event lag issues, if this is true. But any event, even small ones or just regular pvp running around the game with your guild, the first thing anyone complains of is.. Lag. I have noticed that and even watched guild chat or group chat when we do any pvp in game. Yes, larger groups cause lag but toss in those speicals and... Rori is going to be a lag feast.
I read the SWG Event forums a lot and where everyone loves the events, #1 complaint in any event, player run or SOE run is lag. I just do not think the severs can handle it.
I just remembered too that last night two people were going to film the event and they were not sure they could because they were lagging so bad. Last night we had less people, no spawn and still tons of lag.
Wow, today I feel like I make no sense at all. *laughs at herself*

Heres an idea I posted on the starsider board. Someone like you, Issele would have no problem pulling this off.

I say next battle in the story should have the rebels sending their most elite 25 warriors up against 25 of the imps most elite, the rest would have to be spectators, but enforcing this kinda event would be difficult

Thats what I was thinking or we could have a battle with multiple battlefields. Like a battle for lok and have four different battlegrounds spread across the planet. Then we could split up our soldiers and send them to the different places. Very easy to work into a story, everyone gets to fight, and no lag.

I have been talking with Jason (Pex), poor guy I even interviewed him for an upcoming article I am doing on game content, and I am thinking of the multi battlefields concept. There are some awesome Event Bases we can use that I do not think people have seen before. The only issue we have to work out is what would be the best base event location for getting back to the event once you clone. I miss the old Base blowing days of the GCW. The Event team can not place cloners or shuttles. I think you had brought up that issue on the SS boards.
I like Canners idea.

Yea, on the event forums where you requested event support it listed some of examples of things people might request. One of them was starport so I just threw that in there
Yea cloners are the real problem, especially if you want an ongoing battle for some time. Then again if its divided up POIs close to player cities could be used b/c lag wouldnt be such an issue.

Well, I have to say that the lagfest is one reason why I did not bend over backwards to bother coming. The last Lok/AH event was barely enjoyable. I spent time with wife and my boy broke his computer, so I was going to try to make it but said piss on it, I have enough headaches as it is.
I have a moderate computer system that can handle EQ2 on High settings, so SOE can't tell me that my machine needs upgrading. Not when I've had the same damn issues since July 4th 2003, regardless of hardware changes and upgrades ever since. Its not my client or computer, its server side lag. You can tell the difference, I dunno why they cannot.
As to why low Imp pop #'s? Dunno, but its not school, summertime or weather related. Not if 100 Rebels manage to come. Sounds more like the Rebels are having their turn in the cycle for population increase, and I know some Imp PAs did switch factional sides.
