Sorry Lexx but I just wanted to say something but didn't get the chance to before it was locked, and it has nothing to do with a flamepit subject so no worries.
I think it's rather sad that this guild cannot hold a proper debate on something, if you are either to immature or irresponsible to contain yourself to a civil form of debate you shouldn't even be looking at the thread, and leave it to people that can.
Now in the TIO flamepit, we keep things civil and there are new subjects almost everyday, we have certain rules in place for that section though of course as well as a moderator incase things get out of hand but that rarely happens, one of the great things about a tight and good guild is that you should be able to voice your opinions without getting hit with a bat, and you can also see other peoples opinions and views on things and in turn get to know them alot better.

Xan, if you like it in TIO so much, why are you here???
And remember, TIO has a minimum age requirement. RID doesn't. When you reach a certain age, you can have debates without much fear, but when you are dealing with people from various age groups, it can be quite difficult. It's not that we want to ban debates either. The war in Iraq is a very controversial topic that many people are very passionate about. Unfortunately, passion and politics do not mix well.
I honestly have no problems with debates, but they also don't belong on a public forum or in any of the other current forums on the RID web site. If Lexx wants to create a forum specifically for debates on general topics, that is up to him.
If Lexx wants to allow it, that's fine with me. I know from personal experience on many forums that when politics pokes its head up, that things tend to turn into flame wars.

Debates are fine, but I'd rather not make the mistake of sparking a flame war, (particularly Kurke and Ty'e, both passionate, and have somewhat conflicting views I believe). If anyone wants to settle it via PM's, thats fine, but like Kurke said, RID's range from the low teens to over 20's. Some guilds are different than others, and if any RID's want to pitch in their comments on the public TIO forums, be my guest
. And trust me, I've seen the TIO forums, and I think I have more access to their boards than you do

Hmm...u r right xanus. We should have a forum where we can hold SWG Related Debates and Non-SWG related Debates, so people can voice their opinion and such. Dosent sound like a bad idea xanus
. And also...age requirment is something we are going to have to consider as well, and matururity. We'll talk about it in-game and find out whos the youngest player in the guild, see how mature he/she is and then set an age requirement. After the incident with reiley-hunter, i rkinda find a need for an age/maturity requirement.

thanks xan!

Cerex I'm pretty sure I am/was the youngest guild member (12) but I'm not in game right now so I don't know if you'd consider me the youngest guildie but I did get booted once but that was mostly me and Fingolfin trying to recruit more guildies and him eventually saying that we had to recruit people who were at least into there elite/hybrid proffs later I learned he was "joking" but by then it was to late but I'm getting off topic and this is probably the longest post I've ever made.

P.S. please don't boot me Lexx

I wanted to implement one but it never went underway. We need to add somthing to the application like how old you are. 18 or older is preferable.

the reason im here kurke is because I like keeping in touch with my friends in this guild, if you don't like it I won't voice my opinion(since I dont need to put the effort into doing so but i do) about the guild but your as much in it "technically speaking" mind you, as I am right now.
And im with Cerex on both the views of a debate section and an age requirement. I think those would be a good step for your guild.

What about me I'm only 12, you should probably just test them somehow on how mature they are or something because lots of kids can be more mature than adults.

It's not always easy to get out a maturity meter and see if they meet our standards. Maturity can fluctuate depending on if your happy or having a bad day. At least with age you have a general idea, and it's better than taking the risk of recruiting underaged members. 18 year or older members who have jobs in real life and what not may be more responsible in-game than those who are younger. However you are right, maturity can be better for a younger member than an older member sometimes; however, those who are disruptive in RID normally seem to be the younger type... plus they are harder to reason with in general.

It is not someones age that is important, its how mature they are.
