Make sure when you survey, there is enough room. A city's max size is a 500m radius. So wherever you think the city hall should go, place a WP and start scouting 500m in all directions to see what is placeable and what isn't. The biggest bummer would be placing a city hall only to find out you can only place houses in the 100m around it (meaning no future growth for that city). Also, check what the cap numbers are currently at for the planet.

Ok I will scout the radius of the spots at a later time, I know the 1 had nothing anywhere near it though. Very open spot. But it had alot of water near by so it may only be able to grow to 50 citezens max, maybe less.

I personally hate Rori, it's dreary, swampy, and in my opinion ugly. But strategically it'd really assist the Empire. Considering it's the most Rebel controlled world atm, it's the Rebels primary world to purchase factional items. Plus all the registered player cities are under Rebel control. I think a nice place to build on Rori could be an island up north, but it may be too small.

Talus would be nice but there is no strategic value, the 2nd largest Imperial city is there and the planet has been under Imperial control for some time.

lol I know.

I'm with Lexx on Rori though, it's a dump. Guess that's why the rebels live there... lol The only good reason for placing a city on Rori is that you can swing in any direction and you are guaranteed to slap a rebel. Of course, even by placing a city you aren't doing much to influence the war. And you know any bases you place there are gonna be gone within a couple of days. Why squander resources there when you can spend those resources to increase your score on planets you already control or are near controlling.

Even from a military point of view, Rori isn't worth much unless you can get a few other guilds to go with you. There's really no point in placing a city/bases unless you can get several other guilds to pitch in and help. Plus, if RID is in need of crafters/non-combatants then you should possibly consider a place more out of the way. Let's face it, your average crafter doesn't stand a chance on a rebel planet or a planet with unfriendly inhabitants.

OK, there's my thoughts on the issue for the day.

Heh, you got that right.

Not neccesarily. Tons of PvP activity takes place on Rori. Whenever we had to go, it's always impossible to organize in a location easily, because most Imperials are banned from 90% of the shuttleport cities on Rori. Having an Imperial controllec city allows us to prepare for a fight, while being in the proximity of a Rebel city.

I agree we should use our resources on Tatooine first before we do anything on Rori. But this city isn't going to be placed right away. By the time we wish to place this city, Tatooine should already be in Imperial control.

But I must disagree with bases being gone right away. I have SF bases that are months old, the Rebels are too lazy to destroy anything thats SF. They'd need to find the vulnerability times, and they'd need to accumulate a pretty large force (SF Base NPC's pack a punch, with the exception of a Forward Outpost). Heck, even PvE Bases that are bigger than a Forward Outpost stick around for a while. The only real disposable base is the PvE Forward Outpost.

RID has close connections to it's allies (TIO, ISF, BSL, etc, etc). Heck, they've given us most of the bases we have around Fort Oasis, they even gave us a SF Detachment HQ recently. Most likely if I make a post on the Imperial forums, they'd pitch in a few bases and a strike force to destroy some Rebel bases. They have there eyes pretty set on Rori, considering it's the main base of operations for the Rebels.

That's why they should go on-leave :P
But we probably wouldn't want to bring our crafters there anyways, it'd be more military than anything.

Bahhh....

It's always about the war. Crafters always get the shaft.... No wait, first the crafters have to buy resources from some resource whore, then they have to go hide someplace safe to build the shaft, then they have to sell the shaft to some power leveling retard, and then they can get the shaft...

Going on leave doesn't protect you from those lovely creatures inhabiting all the planets. You laugh, we die... :( I personally think that everyone should be forced to master a crafting profession before being able to participate in combat. It would give crafters the respect they deserve.

OK, I'm done ranting... :P

And for the love of the Empire, don't build on Rori... It's just a flat out crappy place. It's a waste of credits and resources to place anything there. (Can you tell I just really dislike that planet????)

Hey Crafters are about the war too. Where do you think we get faction armor and weaponry? :P

It decays incredibly quickly too, and those darned crafters charge so much money :x

Yes, crafters charge a lot of money because it costs a lot of money to make things. You know those high lvl weapons and armor you like to use??? Yeah, typically we buy those resources. You know how much those resources cost??? High quality resources typically start at 10cpu and go up from there. Not to mention crafters can't exactly go out and do a mission for money. Our credit flow is directly dictated by sales of goods. And in the SWG economy, you are either selling out of sh!t or you have fewer credits than a noob.

Honestly, the only crafting missions we can do are for only a few hundred credits... Pathetic, huh???

I see my dreams of a crafter's paradise is no longer realistic. All you combatants care about is blowning sh!t up. Let me tell you something, it's not always about blowing sh!t up. Someone's gotta make the things you blow sh!t up with and it's hard to make thigns that blow sh!t up when you are running from things with sharp teeth...

Poor, poor crafters.... :(

BTW, don't take this post too seriously. As much as I'd like to see you all place a city on a planet like Talus, I can understand placing it other places. JUST NOT RORI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

actualy crafters exploit alot of people, I have repsect for the fair priced ones, but not the ones that charge way to much. Like my friend with a crafter alt told me guild halls cost about 25k to make, they go for 250-350k...

I agree, some crafters are way overpriced and people are stupid enough to pay for it. You do have to remember though, you have to make a profit. Back when I was a crafter, I charged roughly 3-5cpu for whatever I made (depending on what I paid for resources, components, etc.).

Most crafters usually buy their resources and components and those costs can add up, especially when you are in need of high quality resources. What's sad is that most resources vendors think their sh!t don't stink and charge insane prices on resources. Not to mention that they offer resources by the 100k units and you don't have a choice about it. It was always so hard for me to find a decent resource vendor that charged no more than 3cpu for resources and had quntities of resources that I needed. (Believe me, I looked all over C-net and several other places and good vendors are hard to find) I mean, why would I want 100k units of some steel when I only need 20k (not to mention I can only afford 20k). It's like the wealthy feeding the wealthy when it comes to resource vending...

In all honesty, most cost for items comes from resources. I tried to stick to harvesting my own when I could so I could keep prices down, but it's hard to do it all. So yeah, if you are harvesting your own resources, I can see where it only costs you (as a crafter) 25k credits to build a guild hall, but if you have to go purchase resources, it adds up quickly. There have been several times when I actually didn't make much due to just manufacturing costs.

Sometimes the costs are justified, sometimes they aren't. But it is the customers who dictate the prices.

Ihave some respect for crafters I was once WS it was boring so I can respect something thta cost 25k to build to go for like 75k but 250-300 we should go around yelling that in cnet letting people know they're getting ripped off.
