Official (or unofficial) IRC channel/server?

So I'm wondering if RID members have a preferred IRC channel?

I think the guild could benefit from one if we don't already have one.

For those that don't know what IRC is:

How would that work? I read what it is, but how can it work for us?

Well, a lot of people still use IRC. And by use, I mean constantly. It's the kind of program you leave open 24/7 (mIRC has very low memory consumption) and you 'idle' whatever channels you choose on whichever servers you choose. Very effective at maintaining communication between members at all times. You can use bots for various purposes (record keeping, recruitment, contact information, et cetera - even mini-games like trivia).

There's more ways then I could list that an organization could benefit from IRC usage. But then again, it all depends if there's a demand.

I know I would idle an official RID channel, not sure about anyone else though...

Well that's some thing Lexx and the reset of the Council would have to discuss. I can't exactly approve of it, but I will see what I can do.

I've never heard of this before, but I must admit it does sound interesting.

I'll do some more research on it and see if there's any way we can implement this.
