Potential New Player

Hey Guys,

I've been telling my friend at work for a long time now about SWG. I finally got him to start a trial account last night while we were working together (He works the same station/ambulance as I do but on the opposite shift). Unfortunately by the time we got him setup and on Tansari Station it was pretty much time to get off work. I was able to teach him about the basic game mechanics and how to reply to tells. Until I went to teach a new player about the game, I had forgotten how overwhelming it can be. He is a very cool dude, and quite intelligence as well as computer savvy. Since the tutorial lacks any real depth in the game, I am hoping that we can make him feel welcome and help him out a bit. I'm sure after he makes some friends and gets into the game he will decide to subscribe. I do not believe he has played an MMO before but he is most certainly a gamer. His IGN is Mystorian. If he does decide to sub then I am 100% certain he will join RID and be a powerful and active player. Just as a heads up, here are the restrictions for trial accounts:

*
o Cannot create player associations
o Cannot lead a player association
o Cannot exceed level 25
o Cannot use an ad barker droid
o Cannot place structures
o Cannot have more than 50,000 credits
o Cannot own structures
o Cannot create a vendor
o Cannot use an incubator

Chat:

* Free trial accounts are now limited to 400 characters of combined spatial and non-spatial chat every 15 minutes. /tell and group chat are excluded from this limit. This is a per character restriction. If you attempt to chat when you are past the limit, a system message will be periodically displayed telling you that you have reached the limit, and how long before you can chat again

* Note - I was told that /tell does apply but obviously not after all that credit spam we have been getting. Plus what the hell is non-spatial chat if group chat and a /tell don't apply? Stupid SOE.

Anyways I would REALLY appreciate it if you folks would send him a tell welcoming him or even an in-game mail. I'm sure he would really appreciate it and hopefully we can convince him to stay :)

Yea, the game is terribly overwhelming for a newcomer. My girlfriend did the trial, but she really struggled. It really isn't a good game for MMO noobs. With the NGE combat is pretty straight-forward, but navigation is diabolically hard. Let's not even get into crafting, it took me four years to figure that out. Anyways, good luck to both of you.
