I saw this on SSGand well on the OFs. I have to say, it's interesting and given the highly anticipated (possible) TOR MMO, it's fair to say that SOE may be trying to go out with a bang. But, the whole disgruntled SOE employees trying to get revenge and using a British voice-over is sketchy. Of course, having it removed from YouTube is always a good sign. :)

I wonder if it was some sort of internal demo? The voiceover sounds like someone speaking into a cheap computer microphone (especially compared to other SWG promo trailers). The footage is undeniable though. Someone went to a lot of work to create Bespin and Cloud City. I doubt it was someone in their spare time as it would be a pointless exercise since even the emulator is still in testing phases.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was in development in competition with the Hoth content and at the end of the day, the dev team deciding to go with Hoth over a new expansion. (Considering I can distinctly remember reading a dev quote saying there'd be no more expansions)

I'm pretty sure it's fake, although that's not to say it wouldn't be awesome if it were real.

I say it's fake for several reasons:

1.) Voice-over sounds unlike the usual type SOE employs. Plus it sounds slightly amatuerish.

2.) Some people on the SWG forums say that the radar has "Corellia" written onto it. I'd need to get out my microscope to see it in the video though.

3.) The portion with the "diner looking" scene is actually the interior of the diner being added as a TCG reward.

4.) There's just something "off" about it that doesn't make it seem like a usual SOE product.

5.) Valara (SOE Community Representative) said it wasn't made by them and that she has no knowledge of an expansion. That pretty much sums it up and makes my previous points irrelevent.

If nothing else, it's an amazing modding job. SOE either needs to hire the guy or just steal his idea.

I would really like to see it added though. I agree the back-story of the whole disgruntled SOE employees doesn't seem realistic to me. I mean, how did they get a hold of this video? It's also interesting it got removed from YouTube, but that's likely because they were using the official SOE logos for an unofficial video.

Modding and coding are two different things o,o..

That is true, but if you think about it, how hard would it be to really implement something like this?

Devs can take an existing space sector, and make the background a blue sky rather than dark space. They can use nebulas which actually emulate clouds.

The hard part would be redesigning a space station to look like Cloud City. If you think about it though, it'd just be an entirely new space sector with different artwork.

But you're right, there'd need to be more coding involved. The tricky part would be modeling the entire "surface" of Cloud City, and actually writing the quests.

Writing quests isnt that hard..Give me a day and i could probably do that..

Though the SWG devs do have a knack for bullshitting stuff and just repainting it..Probably the hardest thing to do, if they did do this, would be to make the cloud cities interior..If they didnt want to bullshit that like they did with orion.

Footage looks to be real but the guy just might have had to do his own voice over for whatever reasons.

The description below it explains a few things, well maybe.
