SWGEmu help

OK, downloaded the installer program, installed my old copy of the total experience, ran the installer, and I'm getting a message saying I'm missing mss.dll I think. What now?

And if I do get it running, what server info do I use? Clueless here atm.

Apparently users of Chapter 5 cannot use emu... at least from what I heard.

Well I fresh installed into a new directory, separate from the "normal" SWG install folder. So that shouldn't affect anything pertaining to the emu.

I downloaded the missing file, but still get this when trying to connect to a server...

The procedure entry point _AIL_set_3D_sample_playback_rate@8 could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll.

I'd suggest checking the SWG Emu forums for information. I know there's a few people around here who have dabbled with it, but I'm not sure anyone will be able to supply an educated answer. If you can get an answer, it'd be from the SWG Emu devs on their forums.

Btw, if you manage to get it to work, let me know how it goes. I'm quite interested in the SWG Emu and might even give it a chance if I ever get enough spare time.

I have posted on the swgemu forums, and it looks like there's no answer to the problem. I did a fresh install, in a seperate folder from the live version of swg, ran the emu installer, downloaded fresh dll files, and still get that error.

So from looking at things over there I should be fine to go, but I'm not, and it's getting annoying as I've spent an hour now on this and still can't get the game loaded.

Sounds like there is some coding missing from the .dll files you downloaded. You said you have the Total Experience package? Is there any difference between that and the regular retail version of the game? Also, has the .dll that they are currently using been modified in any way from what should be the original .dll? for instance, did some patch or update along the way add or remove code to the .dll file?

I'm not the most knowledgeable person for the emu, so I could be pointing you in the wrong direction. However, I would make sure your version matches whatever the emu devs are using.

No clue about the game version they are using, but the earliest verion that I have is the total experience. I ran the emu installer, and re-downloaded everything it offered. Then ran the emu filechecker and it said everything is fine.

SOE did patch the official mss32.dll, but I'm running swgemu in a totally different folder, seperate from the official swg folder. So one really shouldn't effect the other. Plus I downloaded the dll pack from the emu forums, so my dll's should all be what they need.

There is reports there of epople having problems when running both versions in the official swg folder, but I have two different folders for each version, so I really should be ok. No idea why this isn't working.

NVM...too much time spent on this to continue. I'll uninstall and try again some other time.

I accidently ran into the answer on the emu site. They are saying to reinstall the emu files, and then they suggest to run live and emu from two different folders.

LOL...that's exactly what I was doing. I deleted the emu and live, starting over completely fresh with live and staying away from the emu for now.

If it's the same name .dll file from live, but a different version, you will have problems because you have to register the .dll file.

You could try to manually register the file from the EMU install, but when you want to play live you may need to register the one from Live.

Just a theory.

u could try completely uninstalling all SWG files and only having the emu running and if u get that up and going THEN install the gay-swg (or as i call it lol) just an idea your choice.

SOE was sneaky and edited the .dll file so the emulator wouldnt run.. even if u edit the .dll or replace it with an old version, every time u load swg it will overwrite it.
