From what I understand, you can trade the animals themselves but NOT the transmitters. You can only have one transmitter per characters... so you can only place one in the house you claim ownership of...

You can have all the disks, but you can only display one pet at a time. I think this will be changed by the time it's released, here's why;

People are already posting in the trade forums for cross-server trades. That means I find a person on, say Corbantis, who wants more disks. I create a char (or two) on Corbantis and give my holopet to that person, he creates a char (or two) on SS and gives me his. Over a short period of time, everyone will have every pet using this work around. I guarantee the devs are already looking at this and figuring a way to stop it. My guess is that either disks won't be tradeable, the whole holopet will be one unit with no trade, or you can only get one disk per account. So it'll turn into just another random reward. I hope I'm wrong, but history says I'm on the right track.

I'd say don't waste any creds on disks, when they bring CH back (whatever they call it next) I'll hook everyone up with pets you can display or call.
