R.I.D BASE OF OPERATIONS

As of 9/7/09, we have 228 characters in RID. Of those, 66 haven't logged in in 180 days or more (it's been about six months since the City/PA Update). I would recommend a roster purge at this time, simply for cleaning up the list and making it look more presentable for new members. Now that we know how long it's been since people haven't logged on, it reflects poorly when people join, see over 200 names, but a majority haven't logged in more than 30 days (93 have or are logged in the past 30 days).

My recommendation is 180 days inactive, without prior notification, those characters are removed. We would remove 66 characters if this happened. If we went with 150 days, we would remove 75, and 96 is we went with 90 days.

Thoughts?

NOTE: It's important not to confuse 'members' with 'characters' as several members have multiple characters in RID.

i agree although i suppose it would be surprising if a person returned to the game and they were removed for some people ?

No after thinking about it you are right it only takes a few minutes in game and a message to someone to join again

I suppose anyone who left because they didnt like the game would have to look at the game again anyway before they thought about a guild. Maybe a exception for people who are absent for long periods because of their jobs ? But you have included this already in your selection arev so i agree with you....again

It's downright embarrassing inviting new members and reminding people to use the Remote PA Device, which shows how nearly a 1/4 of the characters in RID haven't logged on since PA changes were implemented (over six months ago). And even more haven't logged in over three months, and we know they aren't gone on military leave.

Anyways, I'm just raising this issue again after a comment Urkan made about the number of Medics in RID. I was looking at the roster and became disheartened at how misleading it is.

A purge is due I suppose. I don't think it's too embarrassing but like you said, it may be misleading to new members who want to get a better grasp at who's active.

I was just thinking an alternative may be to start purging members once we near the 500 member cap. And then we can remove the least active members in place of newer members, and this puts RID on the top population listing on the server-wide player association list. This would probably help put our name out there. Of course there aren't many other benefits.

500? Come on now. I tell people in Guild Chat all the time, when someone asks if so-so is on, "Use the Remote PA Device -> Members -> double-click Last Login/Location". This is one of the first things I do when I log on and after about a dozen names, I see a list several times longer of members listed as "unavailable" (those that logged in before the PA Updates), and then an list equally as long for those that haven't been on in over six months.

It is dreadfully misleading to new members and it looks bad, no matter how you cut it.

Fair enough. I can start by purging the "unavailables" on a week by week basis. Don't want to strain my wrist removing them all at once

i looked at aliendudes application and look at his characters in game name
isnt that the same person that sat (and stayed awake) through the guild meeting the other day in the city hall ?

Hehe, yep, that's him. He's supposed to be changing his name Soon (tm) to TK-FiveONine, but the character has to be a certain age before the /rename feature to work.

Pretty cool guy. I think he needs to be hooked up with some Stormtrooper armor eventually though.
