GU8: Solution to our Problems?

While I agree with Lexx, there is a large amount of apathy in RID, I suggest a new strategy to dealing with it.

It saddens me that PA activity spikes during BB nights, and after the BB everyone scatters. Now, while it's one thing to participate in other in-game activities after the BB, it's another to log off entirely. We should encourage members to participate in many in-game activities in order to act as a liaison between the community and RID. However, all members should be strongly encouraged to pay their 'dues' and participate in PA activities.

These activities cannot be limited to Heroics and Static Bases though. While these are good in their own right, they are limited to building a stronger base of support amongst our members. I'm hosting a Dueling Tournament, which I'm sure you've all seen, on March 14, at 4 pm EST (marks the first day of Spring Break for me!). Such an event is going to be designed to just spend time with each other, get to know one another. It's hard to focus on the social element when everyone is trying to out WTFPWN one another in PvE or Restuss.

So, what can we do to encourage such event and social activities:
  • Promote the Events! People need to be reminded, especially for those of with alot on our plate already. And I'm not talking about impersonal messages, but a direct /tell, "Hey, you comin' to the Event on X?"
  • Get others to Promote them! If other people are talking about these events, you create a 'trickle down' effect. I've personally tested this out before (in real life) and it works great. Groupthink ftw.
  • Offer Incentives! Not necessarily monetary or valuable incentives, but something that makes people want to come. "Date with Lexx!" Wow, I'm there!

Now, to the point of this thread, GU8 will offer a new PA Roster which will list valuable information on members. The best thing about it: /anon doesn't work. As I previously mentioned, in order to encourage a higher turnout at events (social or otherwise) will use the direct approach method, by specifically tagging individual members and exhorting them to attend. And, if we get others to attend, the 'loners' will want to come simply because they don't want to stand out. And, God-willing, they'll enjoy the events themselves.

Thoughts? Comments?

I agree, sending direct tells has always worked best. Now I can finally stop flipping through my friends list, updating it every two seconds, and use the guild terminal. This will especially be useful for those who never had an updated friends list to begin with.

So yeah, from now on, I think we should all use direct methods, like Arev pointed out.

That went to cover expenses, legal authorities, and bribes. You only get the change, 1 credit. Sorry, its the unpaid shuttle tickets, and the disposal of the paper armor, It needed to be taken care of, contaminants in the paper not biodegradable.

You never went on the date so we didn't get paid. You now owe me 1.5 mil.

Yes, but I'm referring to a social activity. I merely used "Date with Lexx" as the first thing that came to mind.
