Idea for RID Heroic Runs Loot

Ok Folks, get your lounge jacket on and smoking pipe out and affix your reading glasses because this could be a long one. I have been playing MMO's since 1998 when Everquest 1 Launched and the thing I found that gave the most drama in guilds (And Pugs) has been loot. So thru my years playing I have come up with a decent system and I was wondering what you all thought in regards to RID group looting.

At the beginning of the run you may call 1 Item you are going for, if no one in the group objects to the item you want then if it drops it is yours. If someone else wants the item then if it drops the 2 or more in the group that wanted said item will roll for it unless one of the players would just let the other have it.

All other loot thought the instance run off the trash NPC's will be put on random and if someone else gets a item you need talk to them about a trade for said Item, remember we are a guild here, brothers in arms if you can't use the item and you know your fellow group member needs the item for either crafting or whatnot hook the brother up.

If a loot piece drops that no one has called you can do one of 2 things: 1 just have everyone roll for it and the winner takes it, or the one I like 2 have a group member sell the Item on a vendor and split the winnings between the guild members that were at the run helping get said item . I can go either way on this one I like the 2 option myself but I can totally understand wanting to go for the 1st option, but I think that if a group helped kill the NPC that dropped the item the winnings should be split between the group thats just me.

Main characters get loot priority always, Alts get second. example My main is Tenvik, my Alt is Ulso CL 90 Jedi, Arramen, Bovive, Lexx and Ulso aredoing HK-47 and the JMC drops and It would automatically go to Arramen hands down even tho I am a Jedi as well Ulso is not my main. Now if Arramen already has a JMC then it would go to me as Ulso. but under now way shape or form should a Alt get loot over a main IMO.

That is about the gist of it, there are a few other things that needed to be added to it but look it over and let me know how you like it or how you don't like it and give me some feedback on this. Once we get a uniform loot guidelines we can send out a guild mail on it so everyone will have a copy and we can also forward a copy to pugs that fill the empty spaces when we need a helping hand. I know these are guidelines for a guild loot rules but I am not opposed to extending them to some of the regular non RID members that group with us from time to time Like Turrell and Carrie (Not sure if I spelled it right) if we get a set loot system down we won't have to put up with the headache Bovive, Zorb and Arramen did the other day with the JMC.

I agree for the most part. I am not a big fan of calling loot ahead of time though. Maybe clearly defining the order of "priority looters" would be helpful. In the past, we sent out mildly confusing sets of rules that did not seem to prevent arguements. How about something simple like the below?

1. Direct need for your main character playing in the instance at the time the loot drops. A person's claim for need would have be confirmed by a guild officer before the person was allowed into the roll.

2. Need for alts of characters in the instance who have a direct role in helping the guild. This means that your alts that no one has ever heard of cannot call for loot. For example, if no one needs a piece of loot and I am on my jedi, then I could call need for my medic that runs instances.

3. Either straight greed or a guild officer gets it and sells it, then the credits are distributed among the group.

4. Alts that do not help RID in anyway. Pretty much, you have to win an item through greed or your commando in WAKE is not getting a shiny new toy.

Okay, that was not as simple as it could be, but I'm still putting it out there for discussion.

I see what you are saying but I simply do not agree with calling for alts. If you want something for your alt then play on that alt and call it.

1) Guild members get first call on loot
2) Loot is called by profession and only if needed
3) No calling for alts
4) If nobody needs it then we roll for it

I think those four steps keep it pretty simple. Selling something and splitting it seems more of a group by group decision to me.

okay, so greed before need for alts. I think that is also a valid way to go. Luckily, neither option will really affect that many people. One, this game only allows two characters per account per server, and two, very few people have two level 90 combat characters.

You just have to remember that these are rules to keep it simple, especially for pickup groups. Myself I would allow Tenvik to call the JMC if his lvl 90 Jedi needed it, but I wouldn't do that for everyone. Adjustments can always be made on a group by group basis.

Oh, another thing we may want to do is ask people to only talk in group chat and not in spatial chat. I personally turn spatial chat off in my group chat tab because it gets spammed and I miss stuff. But then during heroics I miss things because they are said in spacial chat. Whatcha think?

Yes, turning off spatial is a good idea.

Right, well I think the most important thing to do is to keep things simple. I'm not a big fan of calling loot prior to instance runs either, because it's hard to keep track of. Some people may change there minds, or be like, "hey, I meant to call that!."

Bovive's system seems to be the most efficient, though it's extra important to emphasize to non-guildies that RID's will get the first call on loot. If they disagree, they can easily leave group beforehand.

I think *some* thought should be put into alts. If no one needs it, maybe we can then ask if anyones alt needs it. The only risk is that they may be lying about the alt, and simply attempt to sell the item.

I agree Bovive's plan it he easiest, as far as allts getting consideration for loot I would say they have to be a contributing member to RID not some random alt that no one has heard of.

Oh wait I forgot to smoke my pipe! *puff* *puff*

But yah, the alt thing is cool and all but how do you put that in writing and then judge people's alts using a system with any real foundation...other than we believe that person to play enough with their alt. IMO that would cause some bickering between some people's alts getting calls and others not. However, if you wanted to institute some form of guild participation score (like RAID points) then it could be justified. I think that is a complicated road to go down however.

Gah Raid points and such are so lame but I agree with you it would be tough trying to keep track and judge on the alt issue.
