There is too much controversy about loot. I am making RID's official looting guideline clear. You have any questions or issues with this guide, please send me a holo-mail in game.

CASUAL GROUPS = Leader's Choice
OFFICIAL RID GROUPS = #1 Random, #2 Lottery, #3 Master Loot
#1 RID Groups vs Casual Groups
---Respect your Group Leader. Try working things out with him in tells first.
---Know the difference between an Official RID group & a CASUAL group.
---RID Groups are led by Officers & Tutors, scheduled ahead of time or announced as a guild event.
-------RID Groups will ALWAYS adhere to these guidelines:
------------#1 Random Loot for normal,
------------#2 Lottery for rares,
------------#3 Master loot for special targets
-------Contact Erougn about Space Loot Policy
---CASUAL groups are made by a single player just trying to get something done & inviting guild members to help.
---Casual groups loot is determined at the discretion of the group leader.
---If you don't like how loot is done in a casual group, don't go in that Leader's groups anymore.
---RID will NOT police Casual group looting choices.
#2 Random
---This is time-efficient when killing quickly through low levels
---When set to random, one or more players can run a looting macro, so that we are not slowed down to open/close loot windows.
---This is used whenever fighting mobs that drop tradeable items which are not considered rare loots.
---Members are encouraged to swap loots with each other at their convenience.
#3 Lottery
---Lottery setting is a computer generated dice-roll on selected loot.
---A window pops up that shows what is available, & you can select specific items to "roll" for, either all, a selection, or none.
---This should be used whenever looting a high end boss which drops special non-trade or rare loot.
---Don't select items your character can't use.
---Don't just randomly select "all" then win something you can't use or sell.
---NEVER run a loot macro while set to lottery. The pop-up window interferes with your movement & can get you killed while in combat.
---If a group leader is having problems with people in group with history of rolling on items in lottery they are not qualified for, switch to Master Loot, then use a 100 sided die in inventory to roll for each member who needs it, then make them master looter.
#4 Special Target/Master Loot
---Sometimes, a group will pull together to go get something special for someone who can't get it on their own. (Example: We're going to go get Gal'lith an OR Hilt)
---The group leader must let everyone else know they are targetting something special for a specific group member so they have the right to leave the group if they don't want to use their time for that reason.
---It's best if the Group Leader makes the intended person the Master Looter.
---Leader can do this by right-clicking the person's name in the group window, & selecting "Make this person Master Looter"
Looting for Profit
---Nothing wrong with looting to sell stuff in a CASUAL group.
---In a RID group, if a trade-able item is not needed by
A- Group Members
B- Group's Alts
C- Officer/Tutor to store for other guildies
THEN
D Rolled on so someone can sell for profits
Xoseh says:
I know we've been trying to get instance runs in a lot recently, but I think the new loot policy is restricting people to get their weapons. No Trade weapons and such are sometimes looted by people who don't need them, and then only use them for decoration. I think we need to rework the loot policy..
I don't want to drag apart the thread about the Army into more bitching and arguing about loot. So I've dragged his complaint here to a separate thread so officers can hash over the loot policy together since Xoseh seems to have problems in the heroics with people getting loot that they can't even use, apparently.
The loot policy is actually set up on purpose to get people the stuff they need. It's explained repeatedly that people are NOT SUPPOSED to select in the lottery window, anything that their main character does not need. The last time this came up was Astocia, she rolled for the whistler after saying she didn't need it, and Areisus handled it the right way, he made it master and was going to use in game dice to roll on the last loot.
Xoseh is saying, in his quote, that people in our groups are still rolling in lotto and looting things that their characters don't even need. If this is true, we need to deal with this. It certainly has not happened in a single group I've ever run, but then I think people know I have a very low tolerance for greed in my groups and people just don't push that issue.
If people in OFFICIAL RID groups led by an OFFICER are looting things they don't need which are non-tradeable, it's up to that officer to tell them to knock it off, or to post in here about a problem player who's rolling on things they don't need then ask for a vote to kick their asses out of the guild. We don't need people like that in this guild, it tears apart our ability to pull groups together when people feel like either favoratism is being shown to a guild member when we go just to give him things, or when they see other guild members looting things outside the need before greed guild policy and they resent it then stop going in our groups because they don't think the looting is fair.
If an Officer is letting another guild member repeatedly win lotto rolls for loot they don't need, it's an ugly word called favoritism and I think any guild member has a right to complain. In my opinion, that officer needs to be warned then removed from their office if they can't support the needs of our guild by keeping loot fair in their groups. It's so simple guys, we have to follow our own rules or we have no right to expect people who follow us to respect them either.
So Xoseh, if you have complaints about groups you've been in that were all RID groups, and someone is letting people loot stuff they don't need on a regular basis (we're not talking the oopsie I screwed up that DOES happen sometimes) then here's your place to bring it up.
