Base Busts

Post by Bovive » Thu Jan 15, 2009 3:35 am

Hey All (Especially Lexx),

I would like to take over the weekly base busts for RID and sponsor them by the Czerka Corporation. I can get them cheap from Carrie. I don't know anything about setting them down, etc etc. If someone can provide me with the info I would need I would be happy to do it. Also not sure about whether to set down SF bases or not and when. Always set down Imperial replacement bases? All that stuff I am confused on lol. Thanks!

Okay, cool. Well here's some essential information:

1.) When organizing base busts, you use NON-SF Rebel Detachment HQ's, simply identified as "Rebel Detachment HQ" on the Rebel recruiter.

2.) Only Rebels with a high enough rank can purchase bases from a recruiter.

3.) The more planetary points the Rebel faction faction has on a planet, the more affordable the bases, and vice-versa.

4.) While bases don't take lots, a character can place only a maximum of 3. So if a base bust is planned for 2 sets of 3 bases, 2 Rebels would be needed to place the two sets.

5.) Any Rebel, irregardless of rank, can place bases, but they must not be on-leave.

6.) It is possible for planets to be "capped" for bases. Using the war-terminal are usually unreliable for determining which planets are capped, though they do seem to accurately indicate who has planetary control. As it stands, it appears Naboo is the best place to organize base busts.

7.) Many organizers of base busts buy "place-holder" bases to put in place of the Rebel Detachment HQ's, once they're destroyed. This ensures that the planet will still have enough room to place Detachment HQ's in the future, because all you have to do is demolish the place-holder bases before placing the Detachment HQ's. Place-holder bases are often PvE Forward Outposts, as they are the cheapest. Personally, I have never done this, as Naboo has never been capped for me (when it came to just placing one set of bases).

8.) A Rebel Detachment HQ (or any PvE base for that matter), will become vulnerable five hours after placement. So it's essential to place the bases no later than five hours before the scheduled time. For example, if a base bust is to take place at 9:00 PM EST, the bases must be placed no later than 4:00 PM EST (just so you know, I can't remember for sure if bases go vulnerable four hours after placement, or five).

9.) To destroy the bases, you need a BH, Smuggler, Medic, Commando and Officer to slice the terminals, in that exact order. The terminals in the bases won't always be in the same spot.

10.) To properly advertise the base busts, you need a continuously updated list of contacts, usually consisting of Imperial guild leaders, or other well-known individuals.

11.) I would also like to add that bases cannot be placed in close vicinity to another large concentration of bases. Even if a planet is not capped for bases, no more than 3 bases are allowed to be put into close proximity of one another. This is why two sets of bases tend to be hundreds of meters apart.

That's about if, if you have any questions, let me know. You'll also of course want to ask for credit contributions during the base busts. There are also a few other things which can make base busts go more smoothly, such as setting camps for entertainers, and maybe even safe-houses. It also helps to keep a template base bust advertisement mailin your inbox, so that you can easily forward it to a list of people. Waypoints should also be consistent, and named appropriately (Such as: 1.) 3 Detachment HQ's @ 9:00 PM EST, for the first set).

Another thing I've always wanted to do was create a "mobile shop" during base busts. Basically you would have a tent or house with a number of vendors, and you'd place it smack-dab in the middle of a base bust. That would probably rake in a decent amount of credits.

Oooh I never thought of that, good idea. Maybe offer items on the vender simply for the donation factor (like a stupid item called "BB Donation" listed for 500k or something). So you always set down the pve ones then? I thought someone said once that you sometimes had to set down SF Bases. Also regarding #3:

3.) The more planetary points the Rebel faction faction has on a planet, the more affordable the bases, and vice-versa.

It costs to set them down? Kind of confused on that one. I have one rebel toon that is a structures trader but was planning on unsubbing that account. How did you set yours down? Oh and also, any suggestion on a place on naboo to set them?

Yeah, I was thinking of of the selling donation cubes idea as well.

And yes, always use PvE bases, for mainly three reasons:

1.) They're cheaper
2.) They're always vulnerable (SF base vulnerability cycles are more unpredictable)
3.) You don't need to be SF to enter them

And no, it doesn't cost anything to place the base, nor do you need to maintain it. But you do need to buy them from the recruiter, and depending on the planetary control, the cost will vary. If a planet is in deep Rebel control, the bases may cost 1.5 mil each, opposed to 3 mil each when the planet is under Imperial control.

As for how I placed the set of 3 bases for RID's base busting operation, I had a "contact" who I gave the three base deeds to (It may still be possible to use her to place bases). If I may suggest an optimal place on Naboo to hold the base bust, I would recommend inbetween Rauha and Braxis.

Let me know if there's more questions!
