Anyone try the open beta yet? I'm installing it on a partition of my gaming machine. I've heard that a) its faster than Vista and b) its pretty polished for a beta. I'm going to see how it holds up against XP. Nvidia already has drivers for it so we'll see if I can get SWG running on it...

Interesting, how do you get into the beta?

Anyone can get in right now. Here's the link:

On a side note, SWG runs but it seems slower than when I run it from XP (on the same machine). I'm not sure, though, its hard to confirm. Still for an OS that is a year out its remarkable it runs at all. I remember the Vista beta. *shudder*

Neat, I think I will avoid Beta though. I just don't want the headache.

I haven't had any problems on it. Maybe you can just install it on a separate partition and check in on it with SWG every now and then to see if the performance is better. At least that is my plan.

What are the specs on your PC? I'm curious.

Also, I would never do a beta OS on my main computer. I'd either sitck it in one of my spare boxes or grab a spare hard drive and boot to it. I enjoy Microsoft products, but I'm not sure I trust them completely... Windows ME anyone???

My gaming machine isn't really my main computer, my laptop is. My laptop is where I do, well, everything else. My gaming machine has pretty much nothing installed on it. I don't even surf on it. And my gaming machine has gotten dated, but it still runs my games faster than my laptop (if barely). All I really play on it, however, is older games. I do more gaming on my XBox these days.

I have an AMD Athlon 64 3700 with a 7900GT, 2 gigs of ram with some corsair gaming memory that was hot stuff about two years ago.
