I'm looking to buy an external hard drive for my backups. anyone got a good suggestion? I would like to pay around 100$ CAD lol

Pretty good deals at newegg.com usually. $100 CAD is around $87 USD I believe. There seem to be quite a few good ones around the price you are looking for.

you can get an OEM drive...a bit cheeper. Then buy the external case.
