Summit DEV Meeting (Updated: 4-18)

This is from the DEV Meeting...

* BUGS are priority #1 for the next year
* Armor will be made more viable and game changing (more powerful)
* NO ROLLBACK
* ALL professions will be given revamps in the next year to improve and debug them. They will be introducing PROFFESSION CUSTOMIZATION, very similar from their description, to the PRE CU lines (4444) But it will be spread across the 9 professions we have now.
* EPIC LOOTS will be introduced
* Structure PURGE is upcomming
* NO SERVER MERGE
* NO ATMO FLIGHT
* Decay (or equivilent) will be introduced in pub 33 in the trader revamp
* NON HUMANOID species WILL be getting NEW modded clothes and armor drops just for them. (Wooks, lizards, ect)
* Land Combat vehicles are a MAYBE
* EPIC PVP zones will be introduced as part of the GCW, YOUR RANK will become important. (No other details on how)
* Detailed vew of the next 6? publishes. I'm sure they will be posted after the summits.



For PILOTS;

* We are getting gunboats! The factioned GB's you currently see in game (the NPC ones) will be player owned. (Neutrals are getting the Black Sun GB) They are finishing up on the interior's now and are almost done.
* New single fighters are down the road a ways with no current timeline. (They want to focus on bugs and imbalancing! COOL!)
* They are giving us faction control over the space sectors as part of the great upcoming GCW improvements. We fight (PVP and PVE) to control or overtake space sectors!
* Seperate from the sector control GCW stuff, they are giving us "Epic Battle Zones" which will most likely occur in existing DS and Kessel. (With NPC cap shipS)
* I asked about player/guild owned hangers. Helios said "Maybe" with a wry smile on his face. He said the same thing when I asked about land combat vehicles.....

And I saved the best for last;

I actually had some 1 on 1 time with Swede before and after the meeting and we talked about space and only space. Swede was really down to Earth and we brainstormed for about 10 minutes; this is what he said.....Check this out;

* Player controlled cap ships will not be included in any plans in the coming year, HOWEVER, this will be - Boardable capital ships for the GCW!

Let me explain; You hail the SD or vette similar to the space stations now, they give you a series of missions to perform in order to EARN the ABILITY to BOARD THE CAPITAL SHIP.

When on the capital ship, lets say the SD, you can accept missions from different people doing different things. You have the ability to act as a member of the crew and MAN a TURRET on the CAPITAL SHIP, or take missions from the Captain, or Darth Vader, who may be on the bridge. You can even take duties from inside the CAP ships and launch your ship from the CAP SHIP!!!

* We will also get boardable space stations!



Guild interface management will be getting a TOTAL revamp soon and more options will be added: One new option will show when the last time a member was loggged in game. They are working on this revamp to make guild management easy and have more options. Yeah Lexx!!! ( This is one question I was able to get in cos I loath the current interface)


Rori is getting some content finally.

We may be able to board an opposing factions gunship when attacking it.

Crafters will be able to take stats from looted items and move them to other looted items or crafted items. Also crafted items would be able to hold more stats then looted ones.

They really are trying to turn Star Wars into an awesome game again... these type of changes are things I like to see.

What a year is comin up! I've lost confidence about SOE but if the major lines are done maybe I'll restart to belive that SWG is a very nice game :)

Traders will see new items as time goes on to craft.

Crafter being able to craft Jedi items is hopefully coming as well this year

Player City caps are lowered by 10-so it takes less to make the city levels

Lower Maintence fees on houses and structures

When the server purge comes it will eliminate all the harvs and factories not being taken care of, the player houses will go to condemn status and after a period of time will be packed up into the characters data pad and removed from the planet.

Creature handling abilities might be part of the Expertise system that is coming, so all players might be able to tame creatures again.

FRS-not coming back

Attempting to bring back tents of all kinds and make them useful again

Faction Ranks and point will be worthwhile again-Privileges and items will be coming that are granted because of faction rank.

New space ships around publish 32-Gunships each faction will get a useable gunship that has at least 6 turrets. The Reb and Imp gunships are already in the game as NPC ships there will be a new one for the Neutral.

It was suggested to give us a storage building that only holds items-this was taken down and they were interested in possibly doing this.

Planning on getting all professions a special role in the GCW including Traders

New Weapons and New Armor will be coming out in various patches this year.

There is no plan for Duel-wielding weapons this year-but it is high on the list for possibly doing next year.

Advancing the Star Wars Timeline-Planned for something in the future but not this year.

Traders will be given the abilities to once more craft items that are far better then the looted items.

More ranks in the GCW ranking system are coming-they mentioned even General.

It was noted by the DEV's that the over the shoulder look needed to be changed back to right directly behind the character.

Possibly in the near future being able to Deed your spaceship without taking out the components that are in it.

Death Watch Bunker will possibly be instance sometime this year.

HIGHER SABRES-5th generation-are coming so be patient.

Ground based assault vehicles are not planned for this year, this includes vehicle combat as well.

There are no future plans to allow more character slots per server.

Install Profession specific content

More Quests and Dungeons for mid- and high level characters

Usual Jumping and Evading (You can hide behind a house and not get hit)

True collision-goes with the jumping and evading

Ranks and Rewards for Faction and Fixing the GCW

NO Expansions at all this year.

Publish 29-Set for Spring

Weapons retrofit-Reworking weapons so that decay will return and so you don't buy one gun and that is all you ever need for the rest of your gaming.

Content quest for level 37-41

A new High level combat zone/dungeon that is exclusively GCW

Non-combat targeting improvements-That will allow you to decorate your houses again with better ease. Also it is for when you target a NPC/creature and another crosses your path and then you start shooting him instead of you target, that is fixed as part of this as well.

Core technology for the new Expertise System-This will allow all professions to have points to use to modify there character to make them more unique. This is only the core system.

3-4 year Vet Rewards

Thank you for the update Issele.

I recall before you were giving us the chance to have questions for the dev team relayed through you. I do have a question for them that I thought of today while playing.. is there anyway for you to get it answered?

I think it's a bad idea ... Credits need to worth than now ... They are so easy to get ... 1M is nothing but it should be hard to get !!!

They should have done that since the NGE! No ???

Well I can't wait until the year pass! It will be a great year for SWG and hope it will bring back some vet players!!!

I think it means scout and ranger tents which are useless.

wait a second......... pilot (1) copilot/operations chair (2) 6 gunners (6)=all 8 players allowed in group. whose gonnn repair the componets?

Copilot normally repairs the components. It only takes about 5minutes to run all the droid commands and a gunner can run shunt. Most of the time your dead by the time the engineer even moves towards a component to repair it anyways.

I might have more to add from my staff member that went this weekend, once he recovers. He did a private interview with Rouge_5 for about 45 min. We have spoke on the phone and he has told me a ton of stuff.... and yeah I am in that -Wait and see mode- too as to what makes it into the actual live game. I asked him what was the consensus of players that attended in ref to what the SWG Team was saying, he said that most still have the 'Wait and see' stance but did state that most players at the Summit believed the SWG Team was being honest. Needless to say the DEV team got hit sometimes with some very tuff questions about the NGE where they did openly admit the way the NGE was handed to us was wrong.

I think with the PR Nightmare that was the NGE this late in the game they can not afford to be dishonest or misleading anymore and know they are walking a thin line with the player base. :) They also stated they are working on ways for players who can not make it to a Summit to be able to meet the staff ( sounded like IN Game Summits) to get in questions, game suggestions too.

There are tonnes of different items (furniture, artwork, etc) as well as buildings in games that are only seen in NPC cities. Since the artwork is already in the game, how hard would it be for these items to be available to the general public?

I second his question. I see rugs everywhere inside NPC cities but my house is barren.
