Why SWG is great

This is a thread to post why you like swg. I love it better than ever, just some people hate changes. If the game was released like this and then changed alot of people would still hate it. But this is a thread to post why you like it. Maybe issele can send some postive feed to the devs instead of listening to everyone cry. If you dont play the game anymore, dont post here. If you hate the game, stop playing swg and dont post here.

Yeah, now you have feel good threads to make people feel better about the game no one loves. I know my SWG bashing can get a little harsh sometimes, but that's just my opinion. Take it or leave it. I used to love this game, but various things turned me against it.
I'll be honest. I probably would enjoy the changes that have been made to the game. In fact, many of the changes seem like what the game should have been the first time. The problem is the way the devs have dealt with the player base. It's that issue why I will never play SWG again.
My apologies for hijacking the thread, but when my name is brought up, I need to speak up. You can have your feel good thread back now.

Well I'll add to this thread. Like any game there are the good and the bad. I dont thnk this is meant to be a "feel good thread," but it would be fair to have a "balance of power" from the "SWG is terrible" threads.
Personally I enjoy running the city, leading the guild, allying with other guilds, and raising our guilds reputation!
I dont know if it's the game in particular doing that, but sometimes you have to find your own ways to play the game... not just what's programmed into it.

I miss Nar Shadda...
Yeah, running/creating a city was fun. It would have been better if the city mechanics worked as they should have, but it was still fun. I can still remember the rush to get ten citizens in 24 hours. I think the best part was decorating the city hall. It sucked because only the mayor can decorate it, but when you're all done, you can show how creative one can get.
If there's anything that I really loved about SWG is its customizeability. From your character's face to how the furniture sits in your home, you can spend hours just customizing stuff.

Actually Kurke, the Devs have changed that around a little bit and Smed actually asked the entire SWG team Friday to talk about the look-ahead game plans. Apparantly they've always had the policy of not discussing future plans with customers and just spoke through the Community Mouth... Thunderheart and his team... well guess they fired his team. heh.
Anyway, go check out Dev Tracker... over 300+ posts since Friday that should feed you a bunch of information. You don't need to be active to read it, matter of fact here is the link to make it easy:

The one thing that always made the game fun for me and my main source of enjoyment in-game these past couple of days has been the people, especially my guilmates. I come from a FPS background mostly and SWG was the first MMO that I stuck with for longer than a free trial period. I've played some FPS games with great mechanics but the player base was a bunch of immature whiny cheaters. Not Fun At All. As soon as I rejoined and met up with some RID members (most of whom didn't even know me from the "old days") I started having fun. This guild has always promoted a feeling of comradery, which is probably the main reason it is the most popular, well respected and one of the oldest guilds still around in this game.
Now for the game itself. I'm still getting to know all this NGE stuff. So far the combat system is actually alot fun. Having to actually aim gives me (CL80 BH) a fighting chance against a CL90 Jedi. I've been using some of my old "bob and weave" tactics that helped me a lot in the FPS games with good results. I haven't gotten to do any quests yet but from talkin to others there seems to be some interesting content out there for me to explore. Another thing I like seeing these days is Mos Eisley being populated. This city is probably the most famous locale in the whole SW history and it's nice to see action there nightly. We've had 2 nights of some great PvP action in MosE.
There are actually a lot of good changes from the "old' system. It's so nice not having to spend the first 20-30 minutes of game time waiting in line for doc buffs and shelling out 10-15k just to be able to wear my armor. It's also nice not having to heal my wounds and BF every time I die, especially in PvP battles. I can just jump right back into the action. (I do think there should be some penalty for death but that's another post all together).
For anyone thinking of returning or even mildly curious about the current state of the game here's my advice. Go in with an open mind. Think of it as a new SW game. Theres a free trial available and encourage everyone to give it a try, won't cost you anything but some time and if you hang out with RID members I believe you'll have a good time even if you don't like the game itself.

My favorite thing about the game would have to be the people and the fact thats there is so much to do. Ive been playing for 2 and a half years and I havent been or done everything yet! I would hate to see SWG die after all the work we have put in with getting to level 90, getting badges and rare loot. You think about how many hours of grinding youve done, quest youve done. Wouldnt it make some of you mad to just have the game die and go away? Lexx has spent tons of time building RID, and hes one of the only guilds that are left still gaining people and not losing them. And if SOE gets enough time, I think the game will keep moving forward like it has been imo. Havent yall noticed how fast they seem to be at fixing bugs lately? And now they are telling us almost all of their plans instead of keeping most of them secret. SOE has become something like a dog backed into a corner and its time for them to fight back.

I'm still not coming back. SWG could one day be perfect, but SOE will never see me again.

The amount that you could customize everything int he game, especially housing. What I like... which is not so much in there anymore was the game is not just combat. If I didn't feel like hunting or killing something, I had plenty of things I could do. Just chill in a cantina, decorate something, craft. (not so much the crafting anymore... and to be honest I don't go into cantinas a lot). I feel like they are just trying to focus ont he combat now, but I believe it is/was one of many things that made the game great.

All of the RPing events make it good too. I mean all the times I've said "All the more reason to get back swg." Its either been during the planning of a PvP/RP event (with the exception of Bizob coming back.)
Love

I'm going to be honest here. The only reason I play is because its Star Wars. I think its a piece of crap game, thats getting better. Why don't I leave? I did. I quit back in Winter 2004 with no intentions of ever coming back, I even sold off all my crap, then sold my credits to IGE for rl $$$. I've came back only because they erased the old SWG game from existance. To me, anything they do is an improvement, because I would have considered it an improvement even if they'd deleted the pre-CU/CU game from their servers and left everyone without a Star Wars MMO to play anymore.
