I don't have a shop or anything, nor do I intend to put one up any time soon. This post is just to let you all know that I intend to continue working my way up the artisan tree and into shipwright. If you need items of that nature then once I get enough of the grind done I will be happy to assist.
I am not too teribly interested in spending all of my time stocking a shop. I want to spend the skill points on shipwright mainly to facilitate my own piloting. I am not adverse to making items by special order though, and from what I understand of the SW prof re-engineering items is "where it's at" not only for better parts but also for the fabled KDE schematic.
This was long winded, and the main point is just drop me a line if you need something crafted that you think is within my skills. I am sure we can work something out.

Hehe, you should see some of my old posts.... lol Ask Lexx, I can ramble on and on and on.... I can give the Enigizer Bunny a run for his money....
Good luck with artisan and shipwright. Both can be hard grinds, but the hard work will pay off.

I'll be sure to send a request if I need anything... and yeah, Kurke isn't kidding. He's written novels on these forums...

OK, so some of my posts were a little long... but, most of them were good reads and had some good points to them.
At least I know how to make paragraphs though. I hate it when people make these really long posts and neglect to insert some line breaks to make for easier reading.

I have come to a decision: In many cases quality of materials matters, like for weapons, armor... you know, things that you activly use. For many things, quality of materials dosen't matter, like for non-enhanced clothing, furnishings, houses... etc.
I am going to be making lots of personal harvesters. Anyone who wants any of them can have them for free. Your crafter friends may appreciate your using them to collect some of the "bulk" materials, where overall quality isn't an issue.
Of course, for those of you who wish to be on the look out for quality materials, by all means go right ahead. Who am I to tell you what to do with the harvesters I give out. However, just keep in mind that for the "good stuff" you may wish to use the larger models of harvesters, which I cannot make.
Drop me a line in game and we can make arrangements for delivery of a few of the units. Or I can give them to a guild authority for distribution, whatever. If you haven't used all your lots and don't mind checking up on them periodicy then you may come to appreciate them.

We might have some crafters (particularly architects), who can have some use of some units. Forgot their names though

if you need larger ones that she can't make drop me a line.

Cool beans
Just to base people's expectations in reality, I am giving away the smallest harvesters. If you talk to Xan about bigger ones you may not get it for free.
The small harvs take about 250 units of two different resources, and are small enough so that material quality doesn't matter much. The bigger ones take lots of resources to make and material quality can be considered much more seriously.

I wouldn't even give away the small harvestors. Charge a decent price, say 1,000 to 1,500 credits for the small harvestors that are crappy quality. There's always a market for them, you just have to find them. Novice crafters who don't have a lot of money to spend will be willing to purchase the small harvestors without fear of losing too much money.
It can be tricky to find these people. Just hang out around the starter cities (even set up a little shop or join one if you can). I know giving them out for free is a nice thing to do, but you should still try to recover some of your costs somewhere along the line. The small harvestors are an easy investment for novice crafters and you'd be surprised how much money you can actually make off of them. I think I made my first million credits off of small harvestors. Or, just give smalls to guildies for free and sell the rest to the public. There is a bonus to this method too. It's kind of like a little bonus for people to join the guild too (well, n00bs at least).
OK, I've rambled on enough. Time for lunch.

Yeah, I can only make the small harvesters right now, I am grinding up artisan. I am not giving them away to everyone on Tat, just the people in the guild.
Due to some resource mishaps I have only made nine so far. I placed four and I have five in my backpack. I will make more later after flying this evening for some more dough and then checking the harvesters I placed for more materials.

Curious, how many harvestors do you have placed, what kind are they, and are they all harvesting the same resource? And how far into Artisan are you?

I have one wind and three minerals placed.
The mineral harvs are pulling up steel, aluminum, and ore. I am getting close to Enginerring IV, and I can train in surveying III once I find someone handy that has the skill.

I'm not sure what your plans are or how much you know about crafting/harvesting, so I'll just toss out some friendly ideas that I used back when I was RID's #1 Arch/Artisan.
Your best bet is to place all of your harvestors on the same resource spawn. The more harvestors, the more resources you can take in. If you are looking to harvest two or more resources at once (i.e. for small harvestors), try using ratios for the placement of your harvestors. For instance, if a small harvestor takes 75 units of resource A and 25 units of resource B (I don't remember what the actual numbers are), use a 3:1 ratio for your harvestors. Place three harvestors on the resource that you need 75 units of and the other harvestor on the resource you need 25 units from. Of course, you need both resource spawns to be of similar density. I wouldn't place a harvestor on anything less than 50% and often times (if you go out and explore a little bit) you can find spawns of 75% and higher. And if you didn't already know about it,
www.swgcraft.com has an up-to-date list of resources available for each server/planet.
If you are just looking for resources for grinding, just go for the resource spawn with the most density. Why waste great resources on silly things no one is going to buy??? Also, remember that you have 10 lots (unless the devs changed this since the last time I played). So, place a small house and used the rest of your lots for harvestors. If you run out of lots, you have a wonderful guild full of members who I am sure would let you use some of their lots.
There's also a surprising amount of credits to be made just by selling resources. Of course, most resource vendors sell resources in bulk (which for many lower-level crafters is too expensive and impracticle). It's always nice finding vendors selling resources in different quantities. I mean, why buy 100k of resources when you only need 25k???
As far as powering your harvestors, how you do that is up to you. Doing it yourself can cut into the amout of resources you harvest because you have to place energy harvestors. Of course, buying your power can put you into bankruptcy real quick. The benefits of harvesting your own power is that the only overhead you have aside from buying/building your harvestors is just maintenance. If you plan on operating numerous non-energy harvestors, then you need to invest in more energy harvestors. Obtaining some solar generators will provide more than enough energy for you if you are using small or medium harvestors. Also, when placing your energy harvestors, go for density. Energy units with a PE over 500 is nice, but when you are harvesting your own power, the more units the better. Scour the planets until you can find a high concentration of whatever energy you are looking for. It's always nice having a surplus of energy because you never know when there might be an energy shortage or when you might have to run more resource harvestors than you planned for.
Well, there's a lot of helpful hints that I've used over my life as a crafter. I don't know how much of that you already knew, but helpful advice never hurt anyone.
And to think, this post is short compared to some of my other works.... lol

Yes, I knew all this, but it doesn't hurt any new players that might come into the thread.
