Starsider Ground/Space Combined PvP/RP Event
Date of Operation: January 31, 2009
Title: A New Horizon
Briefing Time: 6:00 PM EST
Event Live: 7:00 PM EST
BRIEFING/CLONING SITE (Ground Combatants store your DNA at this cloning center this is where you will be picked up and transported in again in the event that you die.)
Rebel: Dantooine, Mining Outpost
Imperial: Endor, Research Outpost
Background: The remote swamp moon of the Emperor's home planet is being targeted by the Alliance as a sight to launch harassing attacks on the core world shipping lanes. In addition to its strategic position setting up a base on Rori would strike a moral blow to the Empires troops. After the destruction of one of Rori's major cities Rebel Insurgents have increased activity on the relatively unpopulated moon. In response The Empire has increased its presence. The escalation has come to a boiling point as the Imperial Fleet is forced to set up a blockade of the Emperors home star system.
Due to political pressure and to maintain a sense of normalcy in the core worlds the blockade is set up at a bottleneck in hyperspace lanes outside of the Naboo system. The ISD Conquest along with an Imperial Interdictor cruiser and the 42nd Star fighter Wing have been tapped to stop the influx of Rebel supplies and personnel. All ships entering or leaving the system will stop here, however it is possible, as many rebel smugglers have found, to run the blockade, and get past the range of the interdictor's gravity well projectors, then micro jump to the Naboo system. The political higher-ups have ordered that no pursuit be made into the system and that the blockade hold at all cost.
The Alliance has, been making small runs to Rori, however the supplies needed for the expanded war effort on the ground, and to construct the Rebel base are coming in too slowly. Alliance Intelligence has established the shipping schedule the Empire is using for re-supply and reinforcing their forces on Rori. Alliance High Command has scheduled an assault on the blockade at the time of the next troop rotation with the goal of disrupting the blockade long enough to slip a large number of troop transports and supply freighters past to the moon. The assault has been coordinated to coincide with the troop rotation to cause maximum chaos and increase the likelihood of more Alliance ships reaching ground. The 118th Star Fighter Wing, in conjunction with Rara Avis and elements of other units have been tasked with disrupting the blockade while troop transports and supply ships move through the gravity bubble to one of the safe hyperspace points and calculate for their micro jump. As a secondary target Rebel forces have been asked to destroy any targets of opportunity from the imperial troop and supply convoy.
Once the troops have reached the ground, the Alliance will attempt to set up a firebase at a strategic location on Rori... New Horizon. This strategic gem is the only fixed transport for kilometers around. By securing this centralized location the Alliance will be able to create a base which will be relatively self sufficient and capable of supporting the troops fighting in the destroyed city of Restuss. There is no doubt that this location will be hotly disputed and that the Empire will divert all needed forces to thwart the attempt to develop a Rebel foothold.
Event: This Event will span 2 hours and will take place in both Deep Space and on the ground on Rori. All troops fighting on Rori will need to pass through the blockade, set in deep space before going overt on the ground. If they are killed on the ground they will need to clone to their faction’s respective staging area and be transported in again.
Space Section: There will be 4 waypoints, distributed at the briefing which will be designated 'outside of the gravity well' any transport carrying troops to the planet must go to one of these waypoints to begin its hyperspace jump into the Naboo System. The transport must stay within 1k of the waypoint in order for it's jump to be considered fair. If it leaves this 1k bubble it is considered to be back in the grasp of the interdictor cruiser. The jump coordinates are the same waypoints for both factions as any ship would be able to jump from a safe hyperspace point. If a transport is destroyed before it jumps from one of these waypoints it must re-enter deep space and attempt to jump again. If it is destroyed a second time, it may transport its troops directly to Rori (provision to get ground fighting going). Once a transport has delivered its troops to the ground it may return to the point of that factions briefing and reload troops for another run. Space transport for this event lasts for one hour and thirty minutes. Troops will no longer be shuttled through deep space after 8:30 PM EST.
RULES:
Any sanctioned ship may be used as a transport including personal fighters (excepting the banned JSF and ARC-170)
Only Gunships, PoBs, TIE Oppressor, TIE Bomber, Y-Wing, Y-Wing LP, B-Wing, Krayt and KSE may attack Gunships. (this will supply a use for some luc ships and keep GS captains alive for at least a little while. It also incorporates some strategy and diversity into the event).
POB's are fair game for all.
Banned Chassis: ARC and JSF
Rebel Space Coordinators: Jascen', Airek, Halyn, Caul
Imperial Space Contacts: Sedaya, Wezz, Quinllan, Dralin
Ground Section: A single camp will be placed outside of New Horizon by each side's ground coordinator (no one else should place camps). This camp will serve as this faction’s forward staging area. After troops are offloaded at a starport on Rori they may shuttle or ITV to their designated staging area (camp set up by coordinator). No combat will occur within 100m of these camps. They will be placed on opposing sides of New Horizon. If a player is killed they must clone at the site of their original briefing and be transported, via deep space, to rori again. The New Horizon Shuttleport will be available as a transport spot into the city however since all players zoning in will be SF this will be a risky maneuver.
In and around New Horizon there will be houses set up with ground players from both factions on admin. These players will be capable of renaming the house 'Imp Controlled' and 'Reb Controlled' respectively. The goal is to take and hold as many of them as possible. These houses will not serve as buff houses and the only people permitted inside will be the persons with admin. Whoever holds the majority of these houses when the event timer is up, 9:00 PM EST, 'wins' the event.
RULES:
Cloning is not permitted to Rori, when a player is killed they become reinforcements and must be transported in again (hug a medic).
Safe landing spots:
Rebel- Rori Rebel Outpost (transport captains make SURE you have run the quest and are able to land there)
Imperial- Narmle
Restuss is acceptable if there is a problem (ie. you did not read two lines up) however troops should then shuttle to their respective forward staging area to flag up.
Rebel Ground Coordinators: Anishor,
Imperial Ground Coordinators: Arev
Organization:
