No one is going to hang out at the Moenia bank or the Keren cantina and just hope someone else comes by so they can have a "different" fight. They will zone in, look around briefly, and engage. I honestly can't see driving all around town looking for people, they WILL check the normal hotspots, because that's where people hang out. In a social game, no one wants to just hang out in a remote area hoping someone else might spot them. The big concern has been that if the shuttle and cloner and cantina are within reasonale proximity to each other, especially in a player city, you could basically end up with an entire city (or most of it) as just one big safe zone. That's what people are trying to avoid.

If you are saying that people have gotten so lazy in their PVPing, that camping Starports is now an acceptable and expected norm for PVPing... then I vote to just forget the guildwar and stick with CTF events and the occasional Overt battles. Camping Starports is about as lazy as it gets for PVP in this game.

The whole purpose of the Starport/Shuttleport safe zone rule is to prevent fights from occuring in the easiest locations to find people. The 128m rule forces people to fight in other places other than the tired old obvious dueling zones.

Thats all Cloners and Starports are anymore... just the main Dueling Arenas for any kind of PVP. Most of these ideas I've advocated for are not for anyone's safety, but for encouraging better quality fighting than the same old lame old. Ganking is for amateur PVPers, anyone can do it.

Yep, I think RID's would like that idea. It'll be an easier message to get across too. I forgot if this was mentioned before, but what if they are running *to* the starport/shuttleport? I assume shooting them would be acceptable?

LexxYovel wrote:I think RID would like that better. Allowing you to not fight in the outside part of the inside of the starpoirt  would be better. But what specific rules should we set for shuttleports? Should we make it so that you can only shoot once you see the enemy move?

yeah, that's what i mean. the outside part inside of the starport is off limits, lol.

as far as shuttle zoning, i think that we could live with "if they step off the shuttle structure". would give people the ability to move around, buy a ticket, but not really go anywhere. if they leave the little stairways/ramps on either side of the shuttle entrance, they're fair game? sound good?

We've had some requests to pull some of the safety restrictions off of shuttle/starport areas. Would you guys be ok with just keeping the area where the ship lands in the starports (the..."outdoor" area "in" the starport, if that makes sense) as safe, but inside the starport building and anything beyond that is fair game?

We'd also like to see "smaller" safe areas around shuttleports, because frankly, we shouldn't need a whole ton of room to load in, survey the area, and put up HELPER tags if necessary.

We're not trying to make it easier for anyone to get load killed, just have had people point out there's not a whole lot of reason to have a huge circle around a load area. Once you load in you should have a quick look around and decide whether to shuttle out, put up a Helper tag, or just looking for someone to fight!

Thoughts?
